Community Engagement Centre

A natural sense of  sequence, a route and the use of time is proposed. The floor plan is expansive, smaller rooms turn into larger rooms that overlap with each other and refer to a totality. It has a sense of scale, where the meticulous treatment of smaller spaces “enlarges” the larger spaces.

The connection point between the public and private, the small and the large, allows one to experience the adaptability of the interior space to the functions of the Center and the natural environment.

Under a single cover, it shelters all activities required. The esplanade, built by a Byron Bay builder, and the ceremonial courtyard, with their functions of Australian public space, act as an exterior complement to the program.

Flexibility is closely related to future extensions in a sequential and orderly manner, prioritising a sustainable solution. The different entrances have adequate scale according to the zoning to which they respond.
